As the scientific language of the world, English has also affected Law. In a way that it is essential to have access to English law sources. And law students usually have difficulty to pore over these texts. So, the understanding of law terms plays a key role in the comprehension of law texts. Furthermore, for a good performance in LL.M. (Master of Laws) entrance exam, one doesn’t need to have a high level of fluency in English but an extensive vocabulary of law.

In this book we have tried to cover the essential words in the realm of law from the constitutional law to international law. We did our best to collect a collection of words that will help the students both in their courses and the LL.M. exam.

The meaning and definition of words have been taken from authentic law dictionaries (e.g. Black’s Law Dictionary and the essential law dictionary). The style of the book is like 504 Absolutely Essential Words with which most Iranian students are familiar. Like the above-mentioned book we have provided three examples for each new word which are mainly related to law. We also have included the pronunciation of each word using the International Phonetic Alphabet. The translation of all the words and sentences is also given that makes them more tangible.

I wish to express my sincere thanks to all those who supported me in preparing this book. I am grateful to my parents who have always been the main source of inspiration and encouragement. I would also like to thank my friends Elias Tajdini, Nader Velaei, Farshid Hamidi, Mojtaba Heydari and Seyyed Ali Hoseini Azad who guided me through the preparation of the book. And finally, my thanks go to Majd Publication who took the burden of publishing. No perfection is claimed by any means. And I am looking forward to receiving any constructive comments. However, I alone, am responsible for any shortcomings.
